Employee SMS time clock program
Swan Mining Operations LLC operates an internal text-message time clock for its own employees. Employees send a text message to a company phone number to record the start and end of a work shift, and the system replies with a confirmation of the time recorded.
- Who receives messages. Employees of Swan Mining Operations LLC only. No messages are sent to the general public, to customers, or to anyone outside the company's own workforce.
- How employees opt in. Employees are informed in writing during onboarding that the company will send SMS confirmations of their time clock entries. Every message exchange is initiated by the employee, who texts the company number in order to clock in or out.
- Message content. Confirmation of a recorded clock-in or clock-out time, current shift status, and hours recorded. No marketing or promotional messages are ever sent.
- Message frequency. Typically two messages per employee per working day, in direct response to a message the employee sent.
- Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Swan Mining Operations LLC does not charge employees for these messages.
- To get help, reply HELP to any message from the company number, or contact the mine office.
- To opt out, reply STOP to any message from the company number. You will receive no further messages. Reply START to resume.
Privacy
Swan Mining Operations LLC collects employee phone numbers, names and work time records for the purpose of recording hours worked, paying employees, and meeting the recordkeeping obligations that apply to a mine operator, including Mine Safety and Health Administration reporting.
Mobile phone numbers and any information collected through the SMS time clock program are used solely to operate that program and to administer payroll. This information is not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes, and mobile opt-in data is not shared with third parties at all. It is disclosed only to the company's payroll provider and to regulators where required by law.
